Advanced Intro French - Jan 2025
Mondays, 4 wks, Jan 6-27th, 5:30-7 pm

This dynamic class builds on core principles of the French language and slowly but consistently builds your knowledge, confidence and ability to create sentences in writing and speaking. Participants learn key verbs, dive into adjectives and prepositions. There is a wonderful textbook we all work from with loads of exercises and helpful tables. Practice skits/dialogues with others, learn pronunciation rules, and grow your listening and reading comprehension. Allons-y! Join us and be ready for that trip to Quebec, France, or beyond this summer.

This intermediate level class prioritizes conversation practice to ensure that you are on your way to gain real-world fluency. Engage in lively discussions, role plays, all designed to help you express yourself confidently in French. Includes: themed partner conversations- with vocab/helpful phrases, phonetics exercises, reading aloud, comprehension, a little writing, grammar review , and beaucoup of Madame Maggie's tips/instructional strategies. There will be time for personalized attention and teacher feedback as well as opportunities to engage with fellow students and work on topics of interest.

Dive into the world of learning to see - what's really there. Each week a variety of drawing exercises awakens your seeing abilities with quick gesture and contour drawings. We then look at drawings from a variety of artists and embark on longer drawing exercises while learning about the elements and principles of art. Students explore line, shape, form, color, value, texture and come away with a sketchbook full of sketches and learning! Work with graphite, watercolors, acrylics, crayons, markers, charcoal and more! Small supply list emailed upon registration. Some materials provided.
Tues, 4 wks, Jan 7-28, 10 am-Noon

This acrylic painting class, with a few mixed media materials thrown in, explores the wonderful world of color through winter landscapes and snow! Is snow really white? It depends on the light, time of day, shadows and more. Working from real life, images and photos you bring from home, students create several paintings from start to finish with step by step instructions. Get a review or learn for the first time the elements and principles of art, create at least 2 paintings and several sketches, learn key color mixing tips for a wonderful palette in every piece! Materials list emailed upon registrations. Some materials provided.

Bonjour language explorers! Ready to unlock the secrets of French? Join Madame Maggie's dynamic class and: Master greetings and learn everyday phrases. Start to crack the code of French pronunciation. Conquer a few core irregular verbs. Role-play short conversations in a judgement-free environment.
