With 25 years teaching experience, having lived in Paris, France and Yaoundé, Cameroon, her dynamic French classes offer not only language learning but a lens on the vast francophone world. She holds a professional French teaching license from the VT Agency of Education. Madame Maggie attended the prestigious L'Institut D'Etudes Politique, La Sorbonne and L’Institut Catholique in Paris. She pursued graduate work at the University of Yaounde, Cameroon as the recipient of a Rotary Graduate Scholarship in community development, post-colonial African literature, tropical forest ecology and international development.

1. Intermediate & Conversational French 4:30 pm-6:00 pm
Ready to spread your French wings?! This course is for those with a medium foundation of French grammar and a desire to practice speaking, deepen their grammatical grasp and practice daily travel scenarios. Take your French to the next level in a supportive class. Includes: themed partner conversations- with vocab/helpful phrases, phonetics exercises, reading aloud, comprehension, a little writing and beaucoup of Madame Maggie's tips/instructional strategies to conquer your fears and be on your way to reach your French potential. *Your conversational French would be Advanced Beginner level to Intermediate to get the most out of this class. To bring: A notebook, folder and 3-d dictionary (as in a book) French-English. Curricular Content, Art Materials, Handouts provided. Berets optional.
2. Beginning French & Francophone African Music 6:15 pm - 7:45 pm
This course is great for those with no previous French as well as for those who want to dip their toe back in. Much support, opportunities to learn core basics, enjoy French music and make mistakes without judgement! Learning activities have three pillars: Grammar Basics, Pronunciation Rules, Written/Verbal/Comprehension activities inspired by music. Includes: Introduction to the French alphabet, sentence structure, high frequency verbs and general greetings. Madame Maggie's tips to conquer fears and stand up to pronunciation obstacles with finesse will help you start to build a strong foundation. Color-Mixing & Plein Air Painting Workshop
Two Days: 4 hrs/day. Aug 11 & 12
Fri, 3-7 pm and Sat, 9-1 pm. $375 includes most materials and a Friday eve reception! Some previous experience suggested.
We will work both in the studio and in the surrounding area outdoors as we delve into the wonderful world of color, line and shape. Individual and group creativity exercises, sketching tips, color mixing techniques and the chance to complete two plein air paintings. Materials list provided upon registration. Includes high quality acrylic paints, watercolors, diverse drawing media, easels, brushes and 2 canvases.
Drawing & Painting Sampler for Beginners
Thurs, August 3, 10, 17. 5-7:00 pm. $285 includes most materials. 3 Classes -for those new to the world of art! and/or those wanting a jump start.
A fun workshop for the beginner artist in a real working art studio. Concepts covered include the art of seeing, contour drawing, introduction to painting. Students will learn the basics of color mixing, create a color chart and complete two paintings with step by step instruction. Other topics explored include value, shape and texture. There's no right and wrong in art creating-just the healing power of self expression!
Paint & Sip Friyay! Flower Power!
Friday, August 18. 6- 8 pm. $40/pp includes all materials, smocks, instruction and a canvas painting to take home!
Come solo and make new friends or grab a friend to join the light hearted paint experience in a real working art studio. You will be guided step by step to create a painting all your own inspired by the summer glory of green and flowers in our Green Mountain State.
